Course Descriptions

A complete list of current Environmental Studies Course descriptions are available online via the UCSB General Catalog. To view the list of the ES Program courses along with their prerequisites and recommended preparation, click on one of the following:

To view descriptions of all UCSB courses visit the online UCSB General Catalog. Past ES course syllabi are available for review at the Student Peer Advisor's office in Girvetz Hall, Rm. 2325 or many courses list their syllabus online through their webpage. For a list of all ES courses with webpages visit the ES Courses With Webpages link.

Note: Not all Environmental Studies courses are offered every year. When offered, the course is normally taught just once a year, so try to plan your schedule carefully and take courses you want when they are offered. Visit to the Proposed ES Course Schedule webpage for a listing of courses to be offered in future quarters. Also be careful of courses offered in a series. Some require that the first course must be completed before enrolling in the second or third course. Be sure to check the prerequisites of all ES courses before enrolling.

To register for a course for which you have not satisfied all the prerequisites, you must first contact and obtain an approval code from the specific course instructor, before adding the course.
