Environmental Studies Sponsored Research Projects

The Olive Tree Project

This research will describe and investigate the social and biological aspects of historic Santa Barbara County olive tree diversity in time and space, as well as contribute to methodological development for spatial description and analysis of these and other living cultural and agricultural resources. http://www.es.ucsb.edu/projects/olive

Environmental Indicators Project Website (ES 116 and 135B)

This website was originally created in the spring of 2000 by a group of UCSB students as a class project for an advanced environmental planning class. These indicators represent the work of the current ES 135B class as well as previous classes. The indicators will generally represent information from Santa Barbara, the South Coast and beyond. Eventually the indicators on this site will cover a broad geographic base from California to the whole United States.

ES CANON (booklist of great works of environmental studies) - Project of the Santa Barbara Summit on ES

The purpose of this booklist is to gather the great works of environmental studies into one list and separate books into helpful and relevant categories. Hopefully this list will act as a starting point for investigations by people who are curious about an environmental issue, looking for information for a project, trying to find books to include on a course reading list, or just want a recommendation of what to read in their spare time.

Students and professors of Environmental Studies at UCSB have compiled this list, partially in preparation for the Santa Barbara Summit on Environmental Studies. It is just a starting point and we hope to keep revising and adding to the list. If you have any questions, comments, additions or revisions please direct your email to espeers@es.ucsb.edu.
