The Santa Barbara
Summit on Environmental Studies was held on Feb. 23-25, 2006
at the UC Santa Barbara Campus. Sponsored by many of the environmental
programs at the UCSB, the Council of Environmental Deans and
Directors (CEDD), and the National Council for Science and
Environment (NCSE), the summit covered a variety of topics,
including:
• How to encourage greater communication
across the many disciplines -- physical, biological, and social
sciences, and the humanities -- that deal with “environmental” problems
and solutions |
• Taking stock of teaching and research in Environmental
Studies
• Discuss
collectively about whether the time has come to establish a new
professional association focusing on university- and graduate-level
environmental education andresearch
