Paul Relis served for seven years as a full-time member of the California Integrated Waste Management Board (a gubernatorial appointment), and he currently serves as Executive Vice President for CR&R, Inc., a major Southern California waste management and resources recovery firm.  Prior to these positions, he served for twenty years as Executive Director of the Community Environmental Council/Gildea Resource Center in Santa Barbara, in which capacity he was responsible for initiating a broad range of environmental policy and education programs in the areas of recycling and waste management, waste minimization, land use planning, energy and water conservation, and sustainable agriculture.  Mr. Relis is a graduate of UCSB (B.A. English, 1973).
