What is the Measurement?
The total number of acres dedicated to vegetable, fruit and nut, nursery products, and seed crops in Santa Barbara. The Agricultural Commissioner calculates the total acres of crops every year.
Why is it Important?
This is important because it is an indicator of how much land is dedicated to specific types of agriculture in the county. Agriculture is a very important industry in Santa Barbara, and there is a significant amount of land being used for agriculture. It also shows the economic focus of the agricultural industry within the county.
How are we doing?
In the past five years the acreage for vegetables has increased, while the other three categories have fluctuated in the last five years.
