Community Generosity for Land Acqusition for the South Coast

What is the Measurement?

This indicator reflects the total dollar amount that South Coast Santa Barbara residents have generously donated toward the acquisition of land for open spaces and community parks. The five areas concentrated on specifically here are Coronado, Fairview Gardens, Las Positas, Carpinteria Bluffs, and the Wilcox Property.

Why is it Important?

Preserved natural areas are a healthy component of communities and provide a common space for neighbors to meet and foster a sense of community pride. The amount of donations collected reflects the value that Santa Barbara residents put on maintaining the natural areas in their community.

How are we doing?

Between the years of 1995 and 1998 the residents of Santa Barbara have displayed their generosity and concern for their community by increasingly donating money to preserve its healthy character.
