 Heberlein - Preface, Chapter 1 and 2

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Crimes Against Nature, Chap. 2. (This book is an attack on the environmental policies of the Bush administration, so read it with a dose of skepticism. For class purposes, the key section will be the brief historical review, pp. 23-43. If you are interested in contrary views, politcally speaking, see for example Jonathan Adler's National Review article, “Kennedy’s Crimes Against Fact,” http://www.nationalreview.com/adler/adler200312030840.asp. For a differing historical account that gives more credit to Irving Kristol and William Simon, written for the Wall Street Journal [by James Piereson, long-time Executive Director of the John M. Olin Foundation], see http://online.wsj.com/article_email/SB109037632023969457-IZjf4Nklal3oJyvbHyHaq2Am4.html)
