How to Post/List
an Internship Opportunity
To qualify for an internship accepted by the ESIP, it must be a structured and
supervised professional experience, within an environmental organization or agency,
to which a student can apply their classroom education. If your agency is
interested in listing an internship position(s), please complete the online Agency
Listing form
below. Once submitted the posting will be reviewed by the ES Program Internship
Coordinator and then forwarded to students via the ES Program's student
email listserve (ESMail).
The primary responsibilities
of the sponsoring agency is provide training, supervision, and educational
opportunities for the student. Most interns enjoy the chance to be exposed
to as many different experiences as possible, so the more integrated and diverse
the position is, the more both the student and the agency will get out of the
internship.
The agency supervisor will be required to fill out the Proposal Form with the
student at the beginning of the internship in order to establish a "learning
contract" and to define the responsibilities and expectations of the intern
and supervisor. The supervisor will also complete an Internship evaluation
provided by the ESIP during the last week of the academic quarter to verify
completed hours and allow for comments regarding the student's performance.
Note: Although we will try to fulfill all the needs of both
ES students and internship agencies, the ESIP can not guarantee that all
internship positions listed with our program will be filled.
A site visitation by the ES Internship
Coordinator can be arranged if requested by the Agency.
