ESIP Agency Database Logo

There are approximately 90-100 local Agency Listings and over 100 additional non-local internship opportunities accessible to ES students via a computer data base. This database program is designed to help you locate potential environmental internships! It contains a system of possible internship opportunities and specific contact information with agencies throughout UCSB, Santa Barbara, and to a lesser degree, California and National and International organizations. We have developed a number of different search options to help you locate the right internship position for you. Please follow the instructions provided below to help you begin searching the ESIP Data base.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The ESIP Database combines over 25 years of internship opportunities and is one of the best places to start your internship search. However, please keep in mind that this database is only one resource which you may use to search for potential internship opportunities. You are not restricted to only internships listed in the ESIP Data Base! You may pursue any internship position you may find as long as it is environmental in nature, with some form of "professional" agency, and is approved by the ES Internship Coordinator.

Once your application has been approved you will be given a password to access the ESIP Data Base.

• To access the ESIP Data Base CLICK HERE (you must obtain a current password from the ES Peers or Internship Coordinator).

• To learn how to use and conduct specific searches on the ESIP, please read the following:

The ESIP data base will allow four search options:

  1. Search by Environmental "Career Field" (Waste Management, Fisheries/Wildlife, etc.)
  2. Search by "Location" of the Internship Agency (UCSB Campus, Santa Barbara CA, etc.)
  3. Search by method of "Compensation" (Paid Opportunities Only, hourly wage or stipend of some type, or Non-Paid Positions Volunteer of "other")
  4. You may also choose the "Find All" button to list all listings within the ESIP data base (~270) and then use the "Sort" button to select a preferred order you would like to view the listing.
