Michael Brown has worked in environmental management and sustainability for four decades.  With his partners at Brown and Wilmanns Environmental, they provide strategic and technical sustainability services for clients that include manufacturers and retailers in diverse industries along with public and nonprofit agencies.  Previously, Mike established the Environmental Assessment Program at Patagonia, the outdoor clothing company, and worked in environmental programs at USEPA, the Massachusetts Dept of Environmental Management, and the City of Irvine.  He has an undergraduate degree from UC Santa Cruz and Masters and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University.  Mike has helped found four nonprofits and currently serves on the boards of the Gaviota Coast Conservancy and The Energy Coalition. He recently served eight years as a Governor appointed Public Member of the California Ocean Protection Council, the State coordinating agency for ocean policy and research and was the case studies editor for the Journal of Industrial Ecology.
